Verify if Ethernet and Wireless adapters are properly installed. If you find any Exclamation or red X mark next to the device, you may have to verify if its disabled, try to enable the device and verify if it works.

If you find if the device is not working fine you may have to uninstall or reinstall the drivers for Ethernet card. Also you may have to contact your system manufacturer to get the drivers for the networks adapters and reinstall it.
