You can unsubscribe at any time. Ideally we would inactivate these deleted unspsc category codes, but we need to evaluate the impact to transaction data in various stages that could cause problems if a category code is inactive.

At best, it seems that users will have to select a new code for any impacted transactions, meaning active that would force an update if a transaction with an inactive category code is updated or would cause a downsteam processing problem if not updated. We are wondering if other customers have faced this issue and the approach that they used to handle deleted unspsc codes that have been used.

It sure makes browsing item catelogs more orgainized in ePro, but causes issues when the standards change. What I have done in the past, once a version was implemented, you just stick with what you have.

If the UNSPSC standard changes and suppliers start using different codes like in ePro Punchout , you setup a cross reference for those new codes back to the old ones for ePro. Proper effective dated logic should handle most of the changes done to categories and the transactions that reference it.

In newer versions of PeopelSoft, I believe you can have multiple categories and set one as the default. In this case, you would be changing the default but leaving the original one in place. Hope this helps..

We have identified all of the tables containing the deleted codes and are determining the transaction states that would require a new replacement code to be assigned.
