Last week we warned you off the worst 10 games so far released for PSP. In an ideal world, we could now relax and make a cup of tea. Alas, the fight goes on. Indeed, according to this unbiased evaluation of the PSP and DS game reviews on MetaCritic , DS has played host to even more dreadful, money-sucking, gameplay-less stinkers. The reason? Probably the same things we love the DS for — its unique features, such as the dual-screens and the stylus.
Most of the DS's best games were developed by Nintendo, which backs up this theory, and not one of our awful games were. Taking Nintendo's software designers away from the company's hardware is like making an omelette without eggs, of course, but it reinforces the point that focus is required to get the best from DS.
Without further ado, here are 10 of the worst games to grace our beautiful DS Lites. Don't give them the benefit of the doubt. Cast them out! Twitter Facebook Reddit.
You get the same story, and it takes you to the same locations, and covers many of the same experiences as the big screen version, but you can't help but feel as if the whole thing is simply going through the motions.
Indeed, so much of what was an otherwise quality adventure has been lost in the transition, this is more like a book of the film where half of the pages have been torn out. The DS version is even worse. Pocket Gamer hadn't launched when it came out, and we were concentrating on getting good games reviewed ready for our archives and hoping that sloppy nonsense like ATV Quad Frenzy would die off through good old fashioned natural selection.
Nearly every critic loved the game, and it is currently the best reviewed DS game on Metacritic. Despite critical praise, it was forgotten after only a few years. The controversy over the dealing mechanic and general intensity probably also hurt sales on the otherwise kid-friendly system. Still, if you want some classic GTA action on the go, check this one out. This urban fantasy action RPG was praised for its art style, soundtrack, and the hip Shibuya setting.
However, it's clear that this game is a case of style over substance. The battle system isn't necessarily bad, but it does take quite a while to learn.
There's also the fact that the touch-screen controls weren't always the most accurate. The game can also feel painfully emo at times, which can put off quite a few gamers. Have you ever played Missile Command and wished it were brighter and more colorful?
That's basically what Big Bang Mini is, as you shoot incoming enemies with fireworks. This very stylish shoot 'em up boasted a unique art style and was well-liked by critics, but it was forgotten soon after its release. It's a real shame, as the game was a truly visual feast.
Not only did it have some amazing pixelated backdrops, but the original soundtrack was one of the best on the DS. Plus, any game that has you shoot clowns and dragons is pretty wonderful.
Now, it may seem like an obvious target to call the best-selling DS game of all time overrated, but New Super Mario Bros. Granted, it did introduce some cool new power-ups and the multiplayer was pretty fun, but other than that, it's the same old 2D Mario game.
In , people may have been starving for a new 2D Mario game, but the stages here really aren't as memorable as what we saw in Super Mario Bros. Honestly, if we were making a Top Mario Games list, this probably wouldn't even break the Top There were a few retro game bundles on the DS, but Retro Game Challenge stands apart for being the best collection not based on any actual retro games. Unfortunately, the game sold less than , copies in North America, mostly because it's pretty weird.
You play as a kid in the 80s who is forced by Japanese comedian Shinya Arino to complete challenges in several original 8-bit games.
At certain points, you even have to pause the game to look for tips in retro gaming magazines. A nostalgic experience for anyone who grew up with an NES. Aquaspace is a WiiWare game which turns your tv into an aquarium.
Not only can you watch the fish swim by, but you can also join them in the tank with your mii. You can even find out different facts about fish and choose from a variety of backgrounds and wallpaper.
The Legend of Zelda series is an action-adventure franchise which is a firm favorite of fans and critics alike. Twilight Princess is no exception with both the Gamecube and Wii versions scoring highly with critics and players alike.
The game also received several Game of The Year awards. As with most Legend of Zelda games the gameplay, graphics, storyline and score were all praised by critics. Player reviews are equally gushing, with many proclaiming it one of the best games of all time. This action game for the Wii U does exactly what it says in the title. Critics described the game as simplistic and also a cash grab.
Urban Champion is a 2-player fighting game, originally released on the Nintendo Entertainment System. This version is a 3D revamp for the 3DS. The main issue critics have is that no one can understand how Urban Champion was defined as a classic in the first place.

She juggles the daily demands of life with a family and somehow still finds the time to indulge her two passions in life, writing and gaming; sometimes both at the same time. Via Pidgi. Via Reddit. This list is split into my top ten favorites along with twenty weird games.
They are strange for various reasons whether they were console exclusives for big properties, or just had weird play styles. Some are actually really good while others are odd and bad. Surprisingly Metroid Prime Pinball is really good. It also makes me a hypocrite with my rant about Kirby because this game does the same thing to Samus.
Unlike Kirby though this is actually good. Very strange, but also very good. I would take another one of these over another Canvas Curse sequel any day of the week. Do it Nintendo! I know Guitar Hero was a big brand at that point, but I think they missed why when they came up with this.
Did someone get fired for this? Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow is my favorite Castlevania game. What makes it so good is its beautiful pixel art, tight controls, tons of weapons, the ability to learn skills from monsters, and so much more.
I know. A bad Sonic game you ask? Get out of town. Enter Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime wherein you play the titular mascot trying to rescue his fellow slimes from an evil pack of platypuses. You control it by stretching the little guy out and launching him forward. Get it?
