The first time I was able to uninstall it in safe mode but it still wouldn't boot up after uninstall. So I ran a system recovery and went back to running fine. Dummy me tried it one more time and it did the same thing again but this time it wouldn't let me uninstall it in safe mode.
So I did a system recovery again and it is back up and running fine again. But on this machine I will not try SP3 until I find some answers to why it will not take it. I would suggest getting Malwarebytes anti-malware and running a full scan with it with Comodo still set to on access. This will cause each file to be scanned by both scanners. If nothing is found, you can be Wrong messages are dangerous, but wrong interpretation of correct messages is even more dangerous.
I'm not a girl! IMO he should format his machine.. It sounds like it hasn't been done for awhile and that it has come from an unknown owner.

I still question its effectiveness in completely removing all viruses, wouldn't a hacker good enough know how to corrupt the operating system file supposedly stored on this computer, and make it install his version of a corrputed Windows XP SP2?
With regard to reinstalling Windows. Your laptop probaly has a hidden partition which holds a copy of Windows as it was installed in the factory. I used Microsoft Security Essentials. Do I really need SP3? Not many people run the 64 bit version of Windows XP. But for those of you that do, SP2 is all you need. I mention that since you said you have an AMD 64 processor.
Like almost every service pack, SP3 got some bad press because it would occasionally cause troubles for some people when installed. It worked just fine for most, but a very small percentage people installing it had problems. Back up. Take an image backup of your system so that no matter what you can restore that image if something goes wrong.
Visit Windows Update , and allow it to install everything. SP3 should be on the list. This avoids the download process entirely and gets you a physical CD from which you can install SP3. This is perfect for folks who are still on dial-up. The major difference between Windows Update and these three alternate methods is that Windows Update will download only those portions of SP3 that apply to your machine.
Each of the three alternatives above include every bit of SP3 whether you need it or not. If you find yourself downloading SP3 a lot, they can be a huge time saver. Reinstall Windows XP from your original installation media, reformatting the hard disk as part of that process.
