The main difference is that the nihon-shiki directly transliterates the kana into English, whereas the Hepburn and kunrei systems convert into roman words with clear pronunciation. These are generalizations because the distinctions are more complicated. The main thing to keep in mind is that the Hepburn system uses more punctuation than the others, making it a bit more difficult to type with.
I recommend sticking with the kunrei-shiki, but if typing on the IME using the nihon-shiki works better for you then you can use that instead. Alright, now you are all set to give it a shot! Open up Microsoft Word or any other word processing app you use and switch your keyboard mode. It will be in the default mode Half-width alphanumeric where you can type in English like normal.
The only exception is that some of the punctuation keys will have different values. When you type, it will first appear as alpha-numeric romaji until you enter a valid kana. But what about selecting kanji? Since many Japanese kanji share common readings, multiple kanji options will appear for you to select from. Hi, From the Japanese language bar you should be able to switch to Hiragana mode.
Once the Japanese keyboard is selected you should be able to change the input mode to hiragana by pressing Ctrl-CapsLock. That just goes to hiragana. The big issue is that when you are using several languages on the same computer, you regularly switch the keyboard to other languages. Are there users on Earth, who switch from the English keyboard to the Japanese keyboard in order to type in English?
Not even one I have been looking for years, nobody ever offered a solution. I think MS should correct this from the design phase. Apparently this should be the setting we are looking for, but this is not the case! It has no effect on the input mode at all. Does this issue only occur when changing from Romanji to Hiragana? Yeah you basically can't type Japanese characters even though it looks like Japanese is installed.
So this is my solution, and it worked for me. Basicaly the general problem is with window update check if you have " 0x issue" you can check it by : Search : Windows Update settings and than check for updates.
If you have the 0x error, then fixing it will fix the error with Japanese language. Hope this will help someone. I fixed the error with video on youtube. Than just remove the Japanese language and add it again and that's it. I copied mine from an old , but when I tried copying it, I got permission denied errors. I looked at the current one, and ironically, there are no listed users that even have write permissions.
